Two of my favourite things in one place, fab! Hever Castle was the ancestral home of Anne Boleyn, the 2nd wife of Henry 8th who was beheaded for treason. I love history and walking around the grounds and inside the castle was fantastic. I get, for lack of a better word, spooked in these places, like the people who have lived there, walked there, are watching! It was the same at the Colosseum. Standing in Anne Boleyn's bedroom was, okay I've looked here for the right words but I can't describe it ....
The quilt show, my first was great as well. I got some fabric, Rachel had a go at sewing and I was inspired and amazed at the work shown.
Poor Anne, she lost her heart and head to Henry. Is the castle still in family hands or is it now a Trust property? The quilts are amazing - it's hard to pick just one favourite. It's good that Rachel enjoyed hew sewing encounter. Ann :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, I felt the same when I visited Lincoln Castle and viewed the Magna Carter they have there.
ReplyDeleteThe quilts are stunning, you must've come away feeling very inspired!
