Old photos

Lily Beard 1921

I'm still researching our family history and yesterday whilst helping my Aunt move house I stumbled across this fabulous photo of my grandmother from 1921. Don't you just love the bow.

The city which I don't think anyone got was Hamburg, so lots of German Christmas markets in store for me.

On the sewing front I have patched 8 pairs of boys trousers, I think they must walk on their knees when I'm not watching!

  1. Love the bow! Why doesn't my daughter ever let me do that in her hair? :) Boys do walk on their knees and slide on them and who knows what else. I'm afraid there will be more patching in your future! I've only got one boy, though the daughter had been going through a few knees herself lately...

  2. I love the photo of your Grandmother, it is so adorable. Are you going to frame it? It is a keeper for sure.

Boys are hard on pants knees, but my girls were, too. So much to do on the floor, in the dirt or who knows what! Enjoy them, they grow up way too fast!

The Christmas markets sound like great fun! Hope you share pictures with us and have a great time!

  4. I remember my mom would only buy my brothers uniform pants from one store, they were a certified uniform store and they had reinforced knees but the extra fabric was on the inside so you didnt see it. HE still wore through them but not as quickly. Me, I had to wear a skirt. No pants. I wonder if she would have had to patch my pants had I been able to wear them

  6. What a sweet picture!! We looked at lots of pictures when we were at my sister's & scanned lots of them. I remember the days of patching knees of boys pants. We have 3 sons and one in particular seemed to wear through his knees faster than the others. I got to be pretty good at patching pants!! I'm sure you are too.
