First day of school

Me that is!
and I survived.
We made bookworm bookmarks.
I tried to learn 24 names and failed miserably.
We started reading Varjak Paw ( I love that book)
I took a couple of quilts in for the book corner and they were dragged out at lunchtime for play.

I am in my new house
It is chaos
But we are loving sitting around the kitchen table in the mornings all trying to shake off those sleepy heads

Has anyone seen the phone lead?
or my box of school shoes?
How about the plates?

Dominoes is the 'in' game at the moment.

  2. Glad to hear all is going well - sounds like you've had a manic summer but pleased to hear Riley's op went well, you've had a successful house move, and a good first day at school. Think you may need another holiday!
We're missing you in April, drop by if you get the chance xx

  3. The first day is the hardest, right? And you'll learn those names before you know it. (I remember having name cards on my desks most years of elementary school...some years we got to make them!) Enjoy the new home and don't worry too much about the unpacking. We've been on our house 11 years now and I think there are still a few boxes in the basement that haven't been touched. (Filled with important stuff, obviously!)

  4. Wow, 24 new names? I would be completely sunk, LOL! Now that you have bookworm bookmarks, how about a bookworm on the wall? Good luck with the new school year!

  5. Congrats on surviving day 1. You will learn those names, don't worry. Sounds like you and your students had fun too.
It takes time toget settled into a new home. I used to be good at unpacking, but now I would probably become a minimalist and leave it all in boxes. LOL
    Good luck this school year.

  7. Before long, you will have a "special" name you may never say aloud to each of your students; those names you will remember, and also will relate to each student. Your own children are very lucky to have a mom who shares so much fun time with them! ---"Love"
