New house photos

We've been in the new house five weeks.
I feel like some weeks I've taken a step forward and then two steps backwards.
Work is great but exhausting.
So I've only had the weekends to work on getting the house organised.

My wall of bookcases is coming together, thanks to Ikea

It's so bright in  the mornings with the sun streaming through.
Doesn't help that I haven't got curtains up yet.

Flooring is down in the living room, boys and girls bedrooms.

The before in the boys room

The nearly finished after.

i started painting but got distracted by a Sam having a fight with a neighbours cat.
One torn ear stuck back together, two big holes in his neck cleaned and savaloned and two tick removals later I couldn't be bothered to go and finish

The reading nook, there will  be books eventually ;)

Trying to figure out what to do with curtains that are too short.

The two steps back.
A leak in the loft, a ceiling collapsing in the girls room.
Water everywhere.
Girls room which was done, destroyed!
Sorry bad photo but that's the ceiling rebooarded and replastered.

The water even started to come down into the living room.

Ina couple of weeks we have half term, a week to get all the finishing off bits done.
And then my room yay can't wait for a wardrobe!

I love the new house, with the freezing weather outside is so bright and cosy, the cats love the cat flap, the kids love the garden and I love the kitchen/dining room.

  1. The red curtains would look super cute with a white ruffle on the bottom to lengthen them.
One step forward, two back is so frustrating but it is looking good already.

  2. Home ownership is never easy, but definitely rewarding when things come together as planned. It looks like you're doing quite well despite the steps back. You'll get there!

  3. Congratulations on the new house! It looks great (except for the leaky ceiling - Ugh). But it's fixed and you can continue with your decorating. I know you will be so happy when everything is in it's place, although, sometimes I wonder if that ever happens for me. Hee Hee. Can't wait to see more.

  4. Looking good so far! One step forward and two back? Doesn't the two back give you two more opportunities for another step forward (and maybe with an even better idea)!

  5. Looks like a great place! Love all the light. The boys room looks cute and ready for play.
Sorry about that leak. That is so frustrating. Why do those things always happen where everything was done?
I like the idea of a ruffle, or even a band of another fabric on the bottom of the curtains.
Just think of the house as a work in progress....you will get it done.
